Janice L. Almy
Janice Almy is currently the City Clerk of Sand Springs and, short of a couple years, has worked at the City of Sands Springs since 1987 when she started as a Customer Service Clerk. After a city-wide election to separate the positions of Finance Director and City Clerk, Janice is the first to be appointed to serve as City Clerk, an appointment gained by a unanimous vote of the City Council on May 7, 2012. She continues to further her knowledge through attendance at various conferences geared towards improving communications and public service.
Over her many years with the city, Almy has been recognized with Awards of Merit, Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year. The Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce has also honored her with the Outstanding Service Award; she was a Citizen of the Year Nominee and is a graduate of Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce Leadership.
In 2016 Almy was honored as the OMCTFOA Member of the Year where she has been a long time member, as well as having served on the OMCTFOA board of directors first as a board member and continued her service through her reign as president; she has also been a member of Government Finance Officials Association, both on the national and local levels: been a member of the Oklahoma Municipal League and served and Region IV Director on the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Board of Directors, 2017-2020.
In addition, Janice received the 1996 Sand Springs Sertoman of the Year Award – Sertoma, Inc., the highest recognition of a member’s lifetime contributions to Sertoma and the community. Sertoma – Service to Mankind, specializes in assisting those with hearing disabilities is an international organization and Almy has served on the local, state and regional levels as Secretary, Vice President, President & a Committee Member.
Almy currently serves on the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Cor City & Town Officials Foundation, and has associated herself locally with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Her involvement to public service and civic organizations has proven her to be a huge asset to her community.
